Contemporary Landscape Paintings
My interest in landscape painting developed from everyday events of childhood.
Growing up in Seattle I loved being outside. We lived on a small lake forested with tall cedars, Douglas fir, and hemlocks. More important to me at the time, were the ferns, blackberry vines, huckleberries, hazelnut trees, mosses, mud, and the lake. Focusing on landscape, was an easy choice when I started painting.
Color has always been my strength. Combining color, the sensuous texture of oil paint, and my love of landscape has allowed me to create visual images with impact. Every painting is a struggle, as told by the brush strokes and layers of paint, but all the marks and color add depth to the painting and to the viewer's involvement when they enter the painting and experience the landscape.
